Andy Graham
Andy Graham is a seasoned guitarist/vocalist with over 40 years gigging experience. He has also been teaching guitar for about 25 years.
Andy formed Stone Pony in 1999 and the band continues to flourish to this day with a fluid line up over the years. The band was voted in the “Lynn News” as one of the most popular bands in West Norfolk and has a loyal fan base. Andy is now mainly based in Hampshire but plays across the UK and abroad.
Andy has played previously in several bands including The Bob Pearce Blues Band, who were recognized as one of the best and most authentic blues bands on the South Coast; Brandy, a very popular Leicester band and also Beatles and Elvis Presley cover bands. He also played with Blue Sunday, which had a residency at Southampton’s legendary Joiners Arms for four years and included members from such backgrounds as The Jess Roden Band, Gentle Giant, and The Mojos. Andy has played with several touring U.S. blues legends such as Carey Bell, Louisiana Red and Phil Guy. Other musicians he has played with include David Gray, Mick Ralphs (Bad Company / Mott the Hoople) and members of the Elton John, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Ben E King, Richie Blackmore and Peter Green bands to name a few. Andy has appeared on both TV and radio including a session for the Paul Jones Blues Show on Radio 2 whilst a member of The Bob Peace Blues Band. He has also supported acts as diverse as Kenny Ball, Rory Bremner, Bad Manners, The Swinging Blue Jeans, and Dave Kelly.
Andy’s work as a music teacher led him to work in schools and summer music workshops, also running a teaching studio with over 200 students. Andy staged over 70 showcase gigs for up-and-coming bands. He still teaches on-line one to one lessons. Many past students have gone on to become professional musicians including three members of Deaf Havana who have had top 10 UK album chart success.
Andy is self-taught on electric and acoustic instruments and is a grade 8 qualified classical guitarist. He plays most styles of music, but his forte is blues along with a large repertoire of classical and other instrumental pieces. He has two adult sons Luke and Jake, who are both accomplished gigging musicians.
